2D-3D-2D

For this project I had to find an image (2D) of a building, create a model (3D) of it and then photograph (2D) the model in a studio.

Geevor Tin Mine

These images are a photographic response to Geevor Tin Mine and the immediate area surrounding it.
Geevor was one of the biggest mines in the south west of Cornwall operating from the early 1700s right through till 1985 when an international fall in the price of tin turned Geevor from a working mine with ambitious plans into an economic liability. After six years of struggling to keep the mine open the pumps were turned off and the mine allowed to flood.
Nature has since crept its way back into the landscape absorbing many of the buildings and claiming back what was originally untouched. This was one of the issues I wanted to address with my work. I also wanted to highlight the traces of human activity and the long-lasting affects of mankind’s search for precious metals such as Tin and Copper.
My interest in this area stems from my times as a child spent playing and exploring this barren landscape. I felt this project would be a good opportunity to continue this exploration and document the area.

Jubilee Pool

These are a few Photographs from Jubliee Pool in Penzance, Cornwall. The pool was built in the 1930s and was undergoing restoration when I produced these images.
